School Leader, KIPP ZENTH Academy
Cassandra Cotman is originally from Detroit, Michigan where she taught for 13 years in the Detroit Public School System. Cassandra received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Florida Memorial University in Miami, Florida and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Detroit-Mercy. Mrs. Cotman has completed post-graduate hours as a Reading Specialist from Wayne State University as well as the Principal Certification Program at Lamar University. Cassandra relocated to Houston in 2011 and joined KIPP ZENITH Academy as a founding first-grade teacher and grade-level chairperson. She has served the KIPP ZENITH team and family as the RTI interventionist, testing coordinator, 4th grade teacher-leader for KIPP Houston Public Schools and Dean of English Language Arts. Cassandra has provided extensive professional development for teachers and leaders within the KIPP Houston region as well as locally for Teach for America. It is with great aspirations and humility that Cassandra begins the 2016-17 school year as the school leader of KIPP ZENITH Academy. Cassandra is a wife and mother of three children. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends. In her free-time she enjoys reading, dancing, cooking, roller-skating and listening to live music.
