My Child. My Choice. My Vote.

In recognition of National School Choice Week, thousands of parents and students from across the State of Texas traveled to the Capitol in Austin to make their voices heard. A bus of nearly 60 KIPP parents and students joined in the rally with their KIPP cousins from San Antonio and Austin.

It was a clear and beautiful day as our parents and students marched on the Capitol, making lots of noise and waving banners with phrases like:

My Education! My Choice! My Vote!

My Child! My Choice! My Vote!

Today I march! Tomorrow I vote!

From making signs, sharing stories, and walking the Texas Capitol, our School Choice Week rally in Austin was especially successful because of the children who were able to join us (because Friday was a teacher development day). This year little KIPPsters marched alongside their parents to show our legislators why their parents chose KIPP and their determination to go to and through college!

The collective message was loud and clear: School options worked for me!
