The KIPP Houston Public Schools 2017 Holiday season was certainly a memorable one.
KIPPsters had the chance to engage with current and former NBA players, meet successful corporate leaders, and receive gifts from generous individuals and companies.

December 21, 2017: Chris Paul Holiday Takeover
48 KIPPsters and their families visited Target to participate in the Chris Paul Holiday Takeover, a holiday shopping spree with Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul and the Chris Paul Family Foundation. Each KIPPster was gifted a Chris Paul Holiday Takeover t-shirt, $100 gift card and tickets to the January 28 Rockets-Suns game at Toyota Center. The only requirement of the evening was that every KIPPster purchase at least one gift for someone else. KIPP Academy Middle School fifth grader Sofia Estrada was quoted in a KPRC2 story saying that she was going to purchase her aunt nice clothes. To read the full KPRC2 event recap, please click here.

December 25, 2017: Avalon Diner Christmas Day brunch
Dozens of families enjoyed a Christmas Day brunch filled with gifts and holiday cheer hosted by André Napier, owner of the Avalon Diner. The diner has hosted and included KIPPsters in this joyful December 25th celebration for the past four years.

December 8, 2017: Hess Toy Truck School Program
KIPPsters at KIPP Explore Academy and KIPP Intrepid Preparatory School engaged in a Hurricane Harvey Heroes themed art competition with Hess Corporation. Hess employees and volunteers recognized art competition winners and provided toy trucks for all KIPPsters at the two schools!

December 12, 2017: BBVA Compass Foundation Project Blue Elf Holiday Initiative
Kindergartners from KIPP NEXUS Primary School took part in the 5th annual BBVA Compass Foundation Project Blue Elf holiday initiative. Seven-time NBA Champion Robert Horry, along with 'Clutch,' the Houston Rockets official mascot, and the Rockets Power Dancers all attended the event. The program featured a reading of "The Gingerbread Man Story," decorating cookies, and a surprise toy giveaway!
