KIPP Dream Honors Black History

In honor of Black History Month, the KIPP ‘Dreamsters’ of KIPP Dream Prep, celebrated with a number of performances from the kids and special guests from KIPP Northeast College Preparatory, THA PHAROAHS. Texas Southern professor Dr. Kimberly Brown taught students the importance of Black History Month and spoken word artist Tina B. shared an empowering poem. As part of Buddies, Books and Brunch, about 60 guests also joined the students in classrooms to read to them. Guests were also judges for the Black History Month door decoration contest.

Those in attendance included: Rebecca Guillory, Ian Morris, Andrea McCormick, Brandon Cheatham, Courtney Taylor, Ebony Towns, Michael Lactson, Trisha Frederick, Jasmine Turner, Frank North, Oralia Velasquez, Shellie Washington, Lois Jackson, Sharon Stewart, Keita Hopton, Raenel Smedley, Ashley Hoskins, Sharlyn Gentry, Eloise Guillory, Garston Guillory, Derek Boles, Christin McQueen Armstrong, LaShawn Chambers, LaRonnda Berry, Tassandra Allen, Damon Hoyle and Pastor Terrance Johnson.
