I Am KIPP, and We Are Thankful

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.

I am the teacher tired and worn from the fight, yet fighting tirelessly every day for my students’ success. I am the teacher who believes in my students when they don’t believe in themselves.

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.

I am the mother who works long hours and days to get everything done for her children. I am the father practicing my math to help my son with his homework. I am the grandfather who picks my grandchildren up from school every afternoon. I am the grandmother who rides the bus to Austin to make my voice heard.

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.

I am the school leader who balances 100 things every day, smiling and loving my children through both the good and difficult times. I am the campus manager who keeps our schools safe and moving, working well before the day starts and after it ends. I am the custodian who cleans the bathrooms because a clean environment helps our KIPPsters learn.

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.

I am the student working hard to learn to read even when I am frustrated. I am the friend who tutors my teammates so we can all succeed. I am the student who comes to school early and leaves late so I can climb my mountain to and through college.

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.

I am the KIPP alum who knows that because my teachers and parents believed in me, I believed in myself. I am the KIPP alum who graduated from college and now teaches the next generation of KIPPsters.

I am KIPP, and we are thankful.
