Celebrating Black History Month

by Ariel Reynolds on Feb 26, 2016

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history.  Many of our schools honored Black History Month with different celebrations and school programs. KIPP Honors National Black History Month

Our Dream KIPPsters were visited by 50 friends from the community that read books written by African-American authors. Different performances took place from students of all ages. Check it out!

KIPP Academy West celebrated black history month with student performances and a drumming group to honor culture and diversity. Our awesome West KIPPsters even gave their friends at Unity the front row seat!

Our Polaris Panthers did an amazing job at their wax museum representing (in speech, manner, and dress) historical figures. Our KIPPsters gave a brief biography of themselves when they were brought to life by visitors who “activated” them!
