KIPP Voyage
From Mahoganey, Class of 2017:
KIPP Voyage Academy for Girls is the one and only KIPP all girls’ school. We were founded in 2009 by an amazing school leader, Tasha Ginn. We have a total of 300 students enrolled in grades 5 thru 8. Our mission is to empower young women to be self-respecting independent thinkers with the academic, character, and social skills necessary to thrive in, and graduate from the four-year college of their choice, as well as make meaningful contributions to their community and the world.
Our team of talented teachers and staff are here for your daughter non-stop. Even after school some teachers are available for extra help or just time to chat. Our teachers’ communication with families after and before school hours continues even on the weekends. They were hired because they will help your daughter up the mountain to and through college. They work together to make sure your daughters’ needs are well-taken care of. We believe no matter life’s circumstances, all students can succeed.
Here’s what my teammates say is special about their teachers:
- Crystal- “My teachers help me when I am struggling and they also remind me to be happy. I love when we talk about our days, because it shows me my teachers care. My teachers encourage me to try my best and to keep going when things get hard.”
- K’yauna- “My teachers are helpful and take time out to teach and help me learn. I like to talk with my teachers about how I need to work on things, how I can raise my grade, and what areas I can improve on. My teachers keep me up and give me positive vibes. They tell me the things that can impact my life, keeping it real to me.”
- Serena- “My teachers help me and are always there for me, even if I have a problem or a bad attitude. They even put a smile on my face. Basically, I talk with my teachers about everything because I am comfortable around them. They also encourage me by giving me advice. They share my grade with me and help me through the year and show me the difference between wrong and right.”
