KIPP Explore Academy opened its doors to the East End community of Houston in August of 2009. The school started with 120 students and 12 staff members and has since grown to over 700 students ranging from PK3 through 3rd grade. Next year will be KIPP Explore’s final year of growth, as its founding class enters the 4th grade with a total student population of over 800 students. KIPP Intrepid Preparatory School, located near I-45 South and Telephone Road in Houston’s East End, is one of the neighborhood’s newest educational treasures. Founded in 2008, the school serves nearly 400 5th-8th grade middle school students who are all focused on the goal of “going to and through college.” Students at KIPP Intrepid learn valuable academic lessons in math, English, social studies, and science, in addition to enrichment courses such as art, music, dance, health, and Spanish. Students are also schooled in character, where they focus on the Elite 8.
