School Leader, KIPP Climb Academy
Lindsey Smith is the founder and school leader of KIPP Climb Academy. Before starting Climb Lindsey served as the Assistant Principal at KIPP Explore Academy. She joined the Explore Team and Family in June of 2010 as a Kindergarten teacher, and then assisted in founding 2nd grade as the Grade Level Chair. Prior to her time at KIPP Explore Lindsey spend three years teaching in Hawai`i as a Teach for America Corps Member. While in Hawai`i she taught Kindergarten, fourth, and sixth grade at Kalei`opu`u Elementary School in Waipahu. In these three years she had an active role with the Positive Behavior Support initiative on both the school and district level, developing systems of implementation for The 4 Core Values and took part in a public relations campaign to bring the Values into the greater community. Lindsey started her teaching career in the Twin Cities after graduating with her B.A. in Elementary Education with a focus in Communication Arts and Literature from the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph, Minnesota. Outside of school Lindsey enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, running, and traveling.
- Lindsey grew up in Colorado where she worked in her family’s bakery.
- Lindsey has faced her fear of heights by cliff diving at Lake Powell and Hawai`i.
- Lindsey raised sheep while growing up to pay for her college education.
