School Leader, KIPP Unity Primary
Kaleena Rosenbauer is the founding school leader of KIPP Unity Primary. In 2015, KIPP Unity opened its doors to 125 kindergarteners in west Houston. Prior to founding KIPP Unity, Kaleena was a Dean of Instruction at KIPP SHARP College Prep and began her work there as a founding teacher in 2008. Kaleena began her education career as a Teach for America corps member teaching first grade at Smith Elementary in Alief ISD. As a 2006 Teach for America Corps member, Kaleena’s students made over two years of academic gains in both reading and math. Ms. Rosenbauer has taught first, second, and third grade and served as a grade level chair for five consecutive years. Kaleena participated in the KIPP School Leadership Team Program in 2012, was a Miles Family Fellow in 2013, and was a Fisher Fellow in 2014. She received her B.A. in Criminology from the University of Southern Maine and her M.A. in Educational Leadership from National Louis University. Kaleena is motivated by her belief that all students deserve an excellent education so that they can live a life filled with opportunity and choice.
