Chief Academic Officer
Daphane Carter serves as the Chief Academic Officer for KIPP Houston Public Schools. The Chief Academic Officer drives a culture excellence and high levels of student achievement, contributes to the development of current and future school leaders, manages the Head of Schools, and ensures that the academic vision is executed with quality and fidelity. As a former Head of Schools, she successfully led major efforts at several schools to increase student achievement and improvements in teaching, learning, and school status. Her experience includes serving at every level in PK-12 education as a chemistry teacher, assistant principal, principal, and Deputy Head of Schools. Prior to joining KIPP Team and Family, Daphane was a principal in Houston Independent School District. Her central work focused on enhanced access, equity, and rigor to ensure that all students were exposed to challenging curriculum and effective instruction. Daphane received her undergraduate degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Georgia and her MS in Organic Chemistry from Texas A&M University. She also received her MS Ed from the University of Houston at Victoria.
