Overview
KIPP Liberation College Preparatory opened in 2006 to serve students from in and around the Third Ward of Houston. Liberation serves students in grades five through eight. Eric Coleman is the schools' principal. Liberation's student population is 94% African-American, 5% Hispanic, 1% Caucasian, and 71% low income.
Liberation serves students from the Third Ward neighborhood and ZIP code zones 77002, 77004, 77006, 77007, 77008, 77019, 77021, 77025, 77030, 77035, 77054 and 77071.
Academics
KIPP Liberation College Prep students engage in core courses (reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science). Students are also offered character-building classes like social justice, economics, and African drumming. Liberation builds each student up for success in the classroom by focusing on the basic academic and study skills. During Saturday school, students are offered robotics, art, self-esteem, drama, community service, karate, and etiquette classes

KIPP Liberation College Prep will empower students academically, intellectually, and socially; thus, enabling them to succeed in top quality high schools and colleges and to contribute to the social and economic improvement of their own community and the world beyond.
Vision
The first high school bound class of eighth graders from KIPP Liberation College Prep will be fully emancipated knowing no educational boundaries. These scholars will fully understand the power of education and why it is important to continue to build on that power. Striving for excellence will be a way of life, and students will have a strong sense of self.
