If I haven’t heard from KIPP within two weeks of my application, am I still being considered?
Generally, no. We strive to contact all candidates whose experience and skill set match the posted job within two weeks of their initial application. While there are sometimes exceptions (school holidays, inclement weather, an unusually high number of applications, etc.), we are most likely not considering an application beyond the two-week window. You can also log back into your account and check your application status. If you don't receive a call or e-mail, please don't feel discouraged. There are many applicants for each position.
When I log back into my account, my application status says “No Longer Under Review. Resume will remain on file.” What does this mean?
This update means that your application and resume have been reviewed by a recruiter and at this time, we have not elected to continue the selection process for any of our current openings; however, all resumes will remain on file with us through the remainder of the year. Should a position become available later for which you qualify, we may re-review your application and contact you.
May I apply to more than one position?
Please apply for all positions that interest you and for which you are qualified. Applying to a position at one of our campuses does not necessarily guarantee that you will be considered for another position at a different school.
If I see a new position posted that interests me do I have to reapply?
You do not need to submit a new application for each position; however, you should add the new job to your application in order to be considered. To do this, login to your account (use your same username and password), select the position, and click “Add to my jobs”. May I email/fax/mail a copy of my resume?
Can I email/fax/mail/bring my resume to you?
We do not accept resumes via email, fax, or mail. Please apply online and upload your resume here.
I have already submitted my application online. What else can I do?
We ask that you not contact our schools directly, and allow us to first review your application. The recruiting department completes an initial application and phone screen. If you would like the chance to meet with recruiters and leaders, check out our Events Calendar to see where you can meet up with us!
How do I know if you received my application?
You should have received an automatic e-mail (sent from donotreply@invalidemail.com) thanking you for your application and briefly explaining our two-week turnaround timeline. Check your spam folder for this e-mail if it does not appear in your inbox. If you did not receive this e-mail, we do not have your application.
I applied at www.kipp.orgbut haven’t heard from KIPP. Why?
Kipp.org is our national website. To be considered specifically for KIPP Houston positions, you must apply at the local site (www.kipphouston.org).
I saw a position listed on another website, but don’t see it here. Is this position still open?
Any positions listed on www.kipphouston.orgare still open. We update this site daily. If a position is no longer listed on our site, then it is no longer available. Please refer to our site when applying or checking on current vacancies.
I know someone else who may be a good fit for KIPP Houston. What should I do?
Refer him/her to work for us! Visit www.kipphouston.org/referralto learn about our referral bonus program and complete the online referral.
I have applied for a position; why have I not been contacted?
KIPP receives a large number of applications. We wish we could personally reach out to each applicant, but that is not always possible. If we are interested in scheduling an interview with you, we will contact you through e-mail or phone within two weeks of receiving your application.

Can you tell me why I was not chosen to continue the selection process?
It is KIPP Houston’s policy to not provide feedback on applications, resumes, phone interviews, or in-person interviews.
Are there growth opportunities at KIPP?
Absolutely! KIPP encourages personal development and growth with ongoing professional development and a variety of leadership training pathways. For more information please visit the Professional Developmentpage.
What is the salary for teaching positions?
Each school is responsible for its own budget and therefore sets the specific salary range for each position. If you are selected to continue our process beyond a phone interview, you may ask the school leader about the salary range for the specific position for which you are interviewing.
Does KIPP Houston offer competitive benefits?
KIPP Houston offers a competitive benefits package to encourage our staff members to enjoy a long-term career with us. Benefits include: Medical EPO (replaces a traditional HMO) and PPO options; dental, vision, group life and AD&D; supplemental life and AD&D; dependent life; short term disability; long term disability; and flexible spending plans for medical spending and childcare spending. In addition, KIPP Houston offers: a variety of 403(b), 403(b) Roth, and 457 plans; on-site licensed day care facilities on some campuses; a commitment to professional development, including many opportunities to network with other KIPP schools around the nation; and a network of Affinity Relationships, business partners offering discounted services like insurance, gym memberships, banking services, and others.
Do teachers at KIPP Houston have written contracts like a regular public school district?
No, all employees are "at will".
Does KIPP Houston pay into TRS (Teacher Retirement System)?
Yes, KIPP Houston is a member of TRS. All full-time employees and many part-time employees contribute to TRS instead of social security.
We do hire TRS retirees for part-time positions. TRS retirees who work more than half-time lose their annuity, so it is rare that we hire TRS retirees for full-time positions.
Do you sponsor H1B and other work visas?
The decision to sponsor a work visa is made on a case-by-case basis.
I would like more information about the national KIPP movement. Where may I get more information?
Please visit www.kipp.org.
How can I become a subsitute teacher for KIPP Houston?
We contract with Kelly Services to hire substitutes at our campuses. If you are interested in subbing for one of our schools, please contact Kelly Services.
